In a move that will certainly lift the spirits of British entertainment industry, British government  has decided to provide additional tax incentives to animation industry in Britain. A wide-ranging antitrust probe is being conducted by the Justice Department to investigate whether cable companies are acting maliciously to thwart nascent competition from online video.

BMW Posts 6.4 Percent Sales Growth in May

BMW said Monday that its sales increased by 6.4 percent in May to 156,957 vehicles, which is a new record for the month of May.

The surge in sales was mainly due to an increase in demand from mainland China, jumping by nearly a third. With a boost to its sales from China, its largest market, BMW is well on its way to reaching an all-time high in 2012.

McDonald’s Corp (NYSE : MCD) warned that its second-quarter results will be badly impacted by global economic volatility and escalating expenses, although a key revenue figure in May had gone up due to its strength in the US and European markets.

Navistar Reports Q2 Loss, Stock Slides 14 Percent

Navistar International Corp reported a second-quarter net loss of $172 million, or $2.50 per share leading to a sharp decline in its stock on Thursday. The stock dropped more than 14 percent and closed at $24.11 per share, despite assurances from the company that its performance in the second half of the year will be much stronger. Albertsons Announces Reduction of Workforce by up to 2,500 Positions

Albertsons, the supermarket chain, announced plans Wednesday that it would be laying off between 2,200 and 2,500 employees across all 247 California and Nevada stores, including three in Redondo Beach. Pre-Foreclosure Sales in First Quarter at 3-Year High

A report issued Thursday shows that sales of pre-foreclosure homes jumped in the first quarter to the highest level in three years due to an escalation in price discounts.

 In the first three months of this year, the sales of homes in default jumped 16 percent to 109,521 homes compared to the fourth quarter of 2011. It represented an increase of 25 percent compared to the year before and the highest level since the first quarter of 2009. Read More Here.....
